Clifford Olsen is currently doing one life sentence-for beating and raping 11 innocent children one being my step-daughter Colleen Daignault. This creature is eligible to apply for day-parole in August of 2003 for 2004. He is then eligible to apply for full parole in July of 2006 (this is a manditory hearing) Thankfully our laws are such that he can apply for parole every two years until forever. But unless he proves that it's safe to release him into society, he will stay there.
The following article is not here for the purpose of soliciting sympathy. They are to point out to the general public the total injustice of our Canadian laws. Life only means 25 years before they can apply for parole in this country, and thanks to Section 745.6 in the criminal code,(known as "The Faint Hope Clause") A murderer can apply for an early release after serving 15 yrs. of his/her sentence. Now tell me what "Faint Hope" do the victims of a murderer have? After Olson applied, the Government In it's infinite wisdom, put a band-aid on the act. Now you can only apply for early release if you only murder one person...Now I don't know about you, but one murder or a hundred murders..all the same to me...AND SECTION 745 NEEDS TO BE REPEALED. The Government has also FINALLY added the implementation of concurrent running life sentences to match the times they are convicted of a murder. The "Dangerous Offender" act has been implimented as well. But cannot be retroactive to already sentenced prisoners. It must be implimented at sentencing.
Update that was released March 22, 2010:
Killer Olson reaps the benefitsNotorious Canadian serial killer collects monthly pension
By TAMARA CHERRY, Toronto Sun
Every month, the most notorious child killer in the country gets $1,169.47 transferred to a trust account in his name.
Though he will likely die in jail, where he has no living expenses and where the average annual taxpayer cost of keeping a maximum security male incarcerated was $121,294 in 2006-07 — the most recent statistics on Corrections Canada’s website — Clifford Robert Olson is a Canadian, over 65 — he turned 70 on New Year’s Day — and eligible for a pension.
As a federal inmate who has spent much of his time in segregation since he was admitted into federal custody Feb. 17, 1982, Olson likely has little income to claim, which explains why he was approved for not only the Old Age Security (OAS) pension and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), but the maximum monthly benefits for both — $516.96 and $652.51 respectively.
It is a reminder that, criminal as he may be, having killed at least 11 boys and girls, Olson still has his rights as a Canadian, whether you agree with it or not.
Kevin Gaudet does not. “I think that OAS is very similar to a welfare program and I don’t think prisoners should be getting welfare under any name so no, he shouldn’t be getting this kind of cash,” said Gaudet, federal and Ontario director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. “Cut him off.” A Service Canada letter sent to Olson, who in turn sent it to Sun columnist Peter Worthington, shows he was approved for GIS in 2006 and received his first payment, retroactive to 2005, of $7,735.41.
As the price of living on the outside world went up, so too did Olson’s payments. In 2006, the serial killer was paid $8,716.59 and in 2008, he received $6,082.23, his tax forms show. Based on his income from 2008, he was notified in a letter from Service Canada that he was approved for GIS from July 2009 to June 2010. Victim advocate Joe Wamback said he has no problem with “the pension issue,” adding, “In the scheme of things, it’s just so insignificant,” he said. “Whether we like it or not, whether we feel that his crimes were so horrific that his punishment should be everlasting — and we hope it will be everlasting — he’s still a citizen of this country and he’s till subject to the same rights that we all are,” said Wamback, chairman of the Canadian Crime Victim Foundation.
“So do I have a problem with him getting $1,100 a month Old Age Security and pension supplements? No,” he said. “We can’t be selective when it comes to human rights,” Wamback said, adding that Olson is still behind bars and “that, is what we should be thankful for.”
Dee's note:
I’m sorry, but Olsen and any other person serving time in any institution, should NOT receive a pension. Wamback said that (and I quote) “we can’t be selective when it comes to human rights” What human rights are we talking about? The monster that murdered 11 or more of our children? NO! NO! NO! I have paid taxes for many years, to keep him in segregation, the best of health care, free meals, free board and room, free everything. Now he needs a pension? I’m outraged, and will be contacting my MP regarding this matter. This for a monster, who has publicly stated if ever released will simply “pick up where he left off” I can’t even fathom what our Government is coming to, but this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard of, and I’m outraged! Once again, that man is getting what he wants, publicity.See articles( watch the video, leave a comment): http://www.torontosun.com/news/canada/2010/03/21/13305056-qmi.html#/news/canada/2010/03/21/pf-13305056.html

Clifford Olsen Victim Colleen Daignault
Colleen's Daignault's Story
My stepdaughter, Colleen Daignault, was abducted, raped and murdered by Clifford Olson on April 16th,1981, at the age of thirteen.
Colleen was a wonderful, happy young lady who would never just "takeoff" as the Delta police so delicately put it. She loved her Granny and
would never ever do anything to hurt her. It was Easter Sunday, 1981…my husband (Colleen's father) and I were sitting over morning coffee
together when the news of all the murdered children in Alabama came on…I commented to my husband that I could not even imagine what the parents of those children were going through…little knowing that less than 24 hrs... later, we would know exactly what they were going through.
The phone rang the following day with Art's Mom telling him Colleen hadn't come home from her friends place. Our Colleen was missing. Everytime thephone rang, our hearts jumped into our throats. Wondering if it was the police with good or bad news, or if it might be Colleen herself, telling us she was ok; all the while knowing deep down that she was not ok, Colleen would never do this. We all knew that, and in our hearts, knew something had happened to her. This was the beginning of our horror, heartache, and grief……I have recently written a story that was published in the Vancouver Province and the Ottawa Citizen newspapers and was put online as well. Another mother of Olson's victims had the story sent to her, she in turn contacted me with her website. Below you will find the link to her site..she has taken a lot of time, and I'm sure heartache in building this site…please follow the link to her pages, it is the most beautiful memorial to not only our children, but to others who have been lost as well…. In corresponding with Terri through email, and reading an email sent to her by the mother of the victim of another murder, I have realized that aside from those facts, we all have one thing in common: the work we are doing is part of the healing process for us...May God Bless our Lost Angels,
These are the pictures of our children, that where rapped, tortured and murdered by Clifford Olsen.
I ask you to looks into the eyes of all these victims / children / daughters / sons of parents, just like you. Then ask yourself, should this man be even able to seek parole?
