THE ACCIDENT

(This was written when my second youngest sonTodd was in a near fatalaccident-just after he came out of his coma)

He lay in that bed
So quiet and still
Would he live or die?
It could be only God's will

As I sat by his side
Holding his big hand;
I looked at my child
And saw a grown man

No longer a baby
I could protect from all harm
could but pray by his side
That God would give his arm

Return my son, I prayed
For I still need him so
He's just now become a man
I'm not ready to let him go

As I sat by his bed
Waiting for an answer;
My thoughts flew to yesteryear
When this man's life began

But a lifetime later,
Or so it all seemed;
He opened his eyes
and said, "Hi Mom"

I thought my heart would burst
God gave him back to me..
You've a tough road ahead son
But fine you will be...
Your're just like your Mom.
